Dolphins are highly intelligent and social marine mammals known for their playful behavior and friendly nature. They belong to the family Delphinidae and are found in oceans and some rivers around the world. Dolphins have streamlined bodies, making them efficient swimmers, and they can reach speeds of up to 37 mph (60 km/h).
They typically range in size from 4 to 30 feet (1.2 to 9 meters) in length, depending on the species, with a curved dorsal fin, flippers, and a long, slender snout filled with sharp, conical teeth. Dolphins are known for their acrobatic displays, often leaping out of the water, riding waves, and performing flips and spins.
Their skin is smooth and rubbery, usually gray with lighter underbellies, but some species have distinctive patterns or coloration. Dolphins are also known for their sophisticated communication skills, using a variety of clicks, whistles, and body movements to interact with each other. They are highly social animals, often living in pods that can consist of a few individuals to several hundred members.
